1. Initial Appointments

Our assessment process is designed to gather essential information and provide the best support for your child. The initial appointments are divided into two key phases:

Phase 1: Parent/Carer Interview

In this session, we gather comprehensive background information to understand your child’s needs.

Phase 2: ChildAppointment

This session focuses on engaging the child or adolescent in a comfortable and age-appropriate manner. The approach may include:

2. Childcare / School Observations

(for children under 12, if necessary)

Why It’s Important:

3. Preliminary Formulation

Once the initial appointment, behavioral observations, and emotional + behavioral screening are completed, the psychologist will be able to share which assessment pathway is recommended.

You will be guided on the most appropriate course of action based on your child’s needs.

4. Standardised Assessment

During this stage of the assessment process the psychologist will complete the appropriate assessments required that will inform whether your child meets the diagnostic criteria for ADHD, autism, developmental delays, intellectual disability, and/or learning difficulties such as dyslexia.

There may be instances where your child may be assessed for more than one area of neurodivergence such as ADHD and autism or ADHD and dyslexia.
